Ahmed Uthman Muhammad Reportedly Arrested Over Alleged N460 Million Katsina State Government Hajj Forex Fraud

A former House of Representatives aspirant and son-in-law to the Katsina State Governor, Ahmed Uthman Muhammad, has reportedly been arrested by security operatives over an alleged fraud involving about N460 million linked to a foreign exchange deal for 2026 Hajj operations.

Sources further alleged that after receiving the funds, communication between both parties broke down, prompting the businessman to petition relevant security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the EFCC.

According to sources, the young man allegedly approached a businessman claiming he had secured a $3 million contract to provide forex for Hajj operations in the state. Using the story, he reportedly convinced the businessman to release N460 million as investment into the deal.

It was also gathered that Ahmed Uthman Muhammad was recently intercepted at an airport while allegedly attempting to leave the country and is currently being questioned by police authorities in Abuja.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not released an official statement regarding the arrest, while the allegations against the suspect remain unproven in court.

This report is based on information obtained from sources familiar with the matter. Investigations are ongoing, and all parties mentioned are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court of law.
