In a significant development, the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the temporary freezing of a Fidelity Bank account belonging to Mars Aviation Limited, a company allegedly connected to Abdullahi Bashir Haske, son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The action follows allegations of money laundering connected to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier declared Haske wanted in August 2025, accusing him of criminal conspiracy and laundering large sums of money through multiple payments into the Fidelity Bank account for purportedly fictitious projects.
Haske, however, has denied any wrongdoing, insisting he is not on the run and is willing to cooperate with authorities. His legal team has also challenged the EFCC’s actions, describing the declaration as an abuse of process, especially given a pending motion before the Federal High Court.
The freezing of the account is part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct involving Haske and his business dealings.
