Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has expressed concern over the growing use of modern technology by Boko Haram terrorists in recent attacks across the state.
According to reports, Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters are now using drones and other advanced tools to monitor military movements and plan attacks. This new method has made it harder for troops to stop their operations.
Governor Zulum said it was worrying that, even with intelligence about possible attacks in some areas, terrorists still managed to strike. He described the situation as a sign that there could be sabotage or leaks of information from within.
“We cannot allow our enemies to be one step ahead while we have intelligence that is not acted upon,” Zulum reportedly said.
The governor has repeatedly warned that sabotage and poor coordination among security agencies could make the state lose the progress made in the fight against terrorism. He also urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
Experts say the use of drones by insurgents marks a dangerous turn in the conflict, as it shows how Boko Haram is adapting to new technologies to continue their attacks.
For now, the Borno government says it will continue to support the military and work closely with communities to protect lives and maintain peace.
