YOLA: “Police Arrested Me Without Knowing I Was the Commissioner!” – MD Abubakar

While serving as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, MD Abubakar once went on a surprise Saturday inspection. Dressed casually and driving himself, he was stopped by officers at a checkpoint who didn’t recognize him.

A young constable rudely demanded his ID, accusing him of driving his "father’s car." Even after reaching the station, they still didn’t realize who he was — not even the sergeant or an ASP in shorts trying to interrogate him.

It wasn’t until someone checked the wall photo of senior officers that they panicked — and some even jumped out the window to escape!

MD Abubakar said what shocked him most wasn’t the arrest — but the poor discipline, lack of training, and unprofessionalism among the officers. He reminded everyone: leadership is not about titles or offices — it’s about action, truth, and accountability.
