The House of Representatives has recorded a wave of defections as no fewer than 17 lawmakers announced their exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The lawmakers, drawn from several states including Kano, Anambra, Lagos, Edo, and Rivers, cited unresolved internal crises within the ADC as the reason for their decision.
Among those who defected are Yusuf Umar Datti and Harris Okonkwo, who said the instability in their former party affected their ability to effectively represent their constituents.
In a related development, Leke Abejide also announced his defection from ADC to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development highlights ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections and is expected to impact the balance of power among minority parties in the House.
