Aide to Former Senator Ishaku Abbo Reacts to Medical Report on Rape Allegation

In response to recent discussions surrounding a medical report presented as evidence in the rape allegation against Former Senator Ishaku Abbo, one of his aides has released a detailed legal and medical analysis questioning the credibility and admissibility of the document.

The aide, commenting under a blog post that featured the report, argued that the timeline, medical findings, and lack of forensic evidence significantly weaken the case. According to the statement, the medical examination was conducted “about a week” after the alleged incident, which, from both a medical and legal standpoint, diminishes the likelihood of obtaining valid forensic evidence.

“Rape evidence is time-sensitive, usually within 72 hours,” the aide stated. “A delay of a week would erase biological traces like semen, DNA, or injuries consistent with forced penetration.”

On the findings of the pelvic examination, the aide highlighted the intact hymen and normal genitalia, suggesting that these observations are inconsistent with evidence of rape. The only reported sign, a bruise around the posterior fourchette, was described as non-specific, with possible alternative explanations including minor physical activities, sports injuries, or hygiene practices.

Furthermore, the aide pointed out that the doctor’s impression — “sexual assault cannot be ruled out” — is non-committal and inconclusive, lacking the certainty required for legal prosecution.

The statement also criticized the absence of a clear chain of custody or forensic samples, noting that without DNA or semen analysis, the report remains “a narrative, not admissible evidence.”

From a legal perspective, the aide argued that for a rape allegation to be sustained in court, three elements must be proven:

1. Penetration occurred (which the aide claims was excluded by medical findings),

2. Lack of consent, and

3. Identification of the accused as the perpetrator.

The aide concluded that the current report fails to establish any of these elements, describing it as “medically weak and legally inconclusive.”
