A tragic incident has rocked Niger State as a woman was lynched by a mob over alleged disrespectful comments against Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The victim, identified as Ammaye, a food seller in Kasuwan-Garba, Mariga Local Government Area, was attacked on Friday, August 29, 2025, after locals accused her of making derogatory remarks. Reports say that despite the presence of security personnel, angry youths overpowered them, stoned the woman to death, and later set her body ablaze.
The Niger State Police Command confirmed the killing, stating that reinforcements arrived too late to save her. Police also assured that investigations have commenced and promised to bring those responsible to justice.
