The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, over allegations of mismanagement and diversion of public funds amounting to N189 billion during his tenure.
Sources close to the commission confirmed that Tambuwal was taken into custody for questioning in connection with several financial transactions carried out while he served as governor. The EFCC is reportedly investigating claims of embezzlement, contract inflation, and diversion of state funds linked to various projects executed under his administration.
The arrest marks a significant development in the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to tackle high-level corruption in Nigeria’s political space. As of the time of this report, the former governor has not made any public statement regarding the allegations.
